On April 1, 2024, the launch event of Phero Rice project was held at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Long; with the participation of the Provincial People's Council, representatives of the Southern Plant Protection Center, and related farmers in two districts of Tam Binh and Vung Liem.
The fact that there are threats posed by traditional pesticides to farmers and the environment, the project contributes to address the overreliance on synthetic pesticides in Vietnamese rice plantations by implementing a more sustainable pest control method using pheromones. These are natural substances emitted by species that can disrupt pest mating patterns, reducing their population growth and damage to crops.
The project is implemented by DEG within KfW Group; ASSIST Vietnam; M2i Group (France) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Long.
