BACKGROUND
The food sector represents 63.51% of the overall industrial sector in Myanmar. Food safety and quality control are crucial to the development of the country's food industry, both in terms of export and local consumption. Current practices in food safety and responsible sourcing are not par with international standards due to lack of awareness. Project AWARE aims to fill the information gap on food safety by introducing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the local food sector.
